Why do they feel insecure?
As we interviewed some of the male students pursuing Literature,most of them have choosen this course as they left with no other choice.Very minimum number of people have choosen this course out of their own interest.While pursuing English literature they always feel shy to reveal that they are a literature student because of the stereotype that exist in the society,that this course is easier when compared to other majors.Many students who planned their future in the sports field also study this course because they feel that this course is easier and they can concentrate on their main course that is sports.Many students have a common opinion about this course that after they complete their studies they have no other great options other than teaching,that is why they feel that this course is a sphere for women and mostly women choose this course for the sake of job security or only for the sake of earning a degree.Some of them also plan to learn some other courses related to technology and software in order to get into the IT field or related jobs.Maximum number of students were not aware of vast number of opportunities that is available in the forgein countries,where they hire English students as language trainers.There is a high demand for language trainers in many countries.In the course of interview we also found out that even though students like learning literature they are in a constant fear about their future and they think that they will get a job that yields less money.This would be a major fear, especially for the male pursuing literature.
